Acknowledgement to Baseball

It has recently come to my attention that after yesterday's release of Spilled Ink's September issue many loving and caring members of the baseball family became gravely concerned with my allegiance to Major League Baseball.
Many thought that in my column "Last in the League" titled "Welcome to the main event" I openly claimed in my second paragraph that baseball is, from what I've heard, a "fake sport". I tell you baseball fans, nay. My love for the culture and history involved with Major League Baseball runs deep in my veins. I am very apperciative of the game and there is no more relaxing way to pass a summer day than kicking back in the ballpark, watching America's favorite pastime, and enjoying the warm weather. I merely intended to convey that I enjoy the fast paced, hard hitting, sensational events of the NFL after a long summer of baseball.
I do not retract or apoligize for my words ran in Thursday's paper. I wrote this piece to show you, baseball world, that I do care for you sport as much as you do.
So in summary, my preturbed reaaders, I do not have any negative feelings towards baseball. I just care about my beloved NFL more, a statement which I feel is fair and that any sane sports fan would agree with.

Monday morning Quarterback (week 1)

Finally, we are underway. for the last several grueling months I've endured the pains of no football and it has scarred me. But alas, it returns. Yesterday we witnessed our fair share of drama with, by my count, three game winning kicks, some crucial season ending injuries and some blusterous upsets. The most painful of all was watching my Denver Broncos march up and down the field, collecting 400+ yards to only score fifteen points, and barely score 15 points. The mad scramble at the end of Sunday's game versus the Bills almost gave me a heart attack when Jason Elam and company rushed on the field to win with no time left, yikes. But as for the Broncos problems I believe we can begin to look at them once we are able to grab a bigger douse of what they have, don't worry Bronco country, they won, and there's are 15 games left!
